Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer as a consultant, columnist syndicated to a speaker writer, author and television show host. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly thereafter , the company was sold. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until today. By February 2020, she had closed 53 deals. One of them was a $350,000 investment for Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was second child in the family of 10 children, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran's childhood. At times, her family relied on the delivery of food that was free from a local grocery store. Corcoran states that her father was a drunk who was rude to her mother and condescension. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education and later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated at a Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran, who had failed several courses in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School.
